In the year 2151, newly commissioned Second Lieutenant Stephanie A. Saxon arrives on the garden planet of Valdebaron for what is supposed to be an easy, even tedious army assignment. She soon finds otherwise, and is almost immediately in the midst of several military engagements, trying her courage, stamina, and training. The reason soon becomes apparent, when she discovers an alien artifact, hidden away in a series of caves, that will change her life, and indeed, all humanity forever. Stephanie survives several fierce firefights, is wounded twice, but recovers, and goes on to establish a serious romantic relationship with Grant Wilson, a fellow army career soldier.

I somehow stumbled over this work and while a bit put off at the cover artwork and the title decided to go ahead with reading it anyway. I ended up devouring it in one read and while I am a fast reader the book never seemed to end this took a whole day and night. It was so glorious to immerse myself in the depth, grandeur and sheer delight of the words. Yes I had issues with parts of the story but I found I just did not care, I just wanted more. Then it sadly came to a conclusion in the last hours of the night just before dawn and I then found there was a second work, also with a slightly off putting cover but yes!!! It was also about the same length. I immediately acquired it and started to read and even more wonderfull it extended the story in such a perfect way. It was not just a rehash and rounding out of the first book but an awesome second work just as enticing and in some ways even better.
Again I lost myself totally to the real world for many hours just as I had for the first. I do not know how to really explain the opportunity that exhists to leave the real world behind for an extended period and immerse yourself in this new classic.
If you like the works of Mackey Chandler, Elliott Kay, Laurence Dahners and P S Power then please please read this work.
I rarely do reviews but I am this time and it is for two reasons, one selfish and one not. The selfish one is that if others discover and read this work and the the rest of the works, it might be the trigger for more of this authors work for me to acquire, read and just become lost to my hearts delight.
The non selfish reason is that I just want to share this awesome and yes "classic" novel with the world, that has just not yet stumbled over it.

Situation at Saxon Site Saxon Series Book 1 edition by Frederick Gerty Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Read first book and second book in series from start to finish hardly even noticing that time was passing adding author to must buy list for any more books.
Full of surprising turns and intrigue. Can't wait to read the next in the series! Easy reading in /tablet format.
I found this book through a 'what do we read while waiting for the next book in series xxx' thread. Once I saw the comment that included the line "
If you like the works of Mackey Chandler, Elliott Kay, Laurence Dahners and P S Power then please please read this work.", I was intrigued.
The few reviews was a bit off-putting, but since they were uniformly good ratings, I poked around and they didn't seem like 'friend of the author puff pieces' or bought reviews.
So... I bought the first book. I'm halfway through it now and plan to buy the rest of the series. The author is clearly relying on word of mouth. He could use some advice from Michael Anderle on how to maximize and improve the self-promotion of his books. Just one example, When you click the Tagged link for his name, only two of the books in the series come up... though there are 5 at least if you search by his name typing it out.
The book starts moderately good and just keeps getting better. If this was the authors first book, he obviously improved quickly as he went along.
